SVRP FAQ
At this present moment, the Student Volunteer Recognition Programme (SVRP) is open to existing
full-time students in local IHLs. We have another track to encourage secondary school
(Secondary 1 onwards) and JC students to volunteer as well.
We will be awarding certificates to Gold, Silver & Bronze winners from IHLs. In addition to this,
Gold awardees will receive AiSP Challenge Coin as well as internship opportunities with our supporting
partner companies.
The secondary school and JC students would be given Certificate of Merit when they achieved the stipulated milestones.

No, there should not be any double counting or duplication.
AiSP has defined the recognised activities as:

Please note that participation in cybersecurity events such as attendee for a talk, would not be counted for this nomination. If a volunteer is a speaker at a cybersecurity talk and it is in accordance to the activities recognised by AiSP, it would be counted under Skill category.
- Activities which are outside of school curriculum and not assessed as part of student’s academic performance, and not mandated by the schools.
- The cybersecurity-related activities may be initiated by the volunteers but must be eventually implemented or executed by the volunteers.
- Leadership refers to how the volunteer leads a team to complete the voluntary activity. For example,
- Organise a school talk on cyber security.
- Managing teams to complete a cybersecurity project for the community.
- Plan and manage production for a cybersecurity video.
- Skill refers to how the volunteer applies his/her cybersecurity knowledge to others. For example,
- Conduct cybersecurity workshops or develop related software.
- Teach elderly (not related to volunteer) how to use security settings for smartphones.
- Impart cyber know-how and tips to younger students or peers in a student club or society.
- Prepare and deliver presentation or speak on cybersecurity topics to an audience.
- Produce and post video in public domain on how to be cyber-savvy when using free public Wifi, for dialect-speaking audience.
- Outreach refers to how the volunteer is involved in outreach efforts (social media, events) to increase cybersecurity awareness for the public. For example,
- Submit social media posts to advocate for cyber awareness to Mandarin-speaking audience.
- Set up, run and/or support a CTF or cyber-related talk.
- Support the event organisation of events (physical, virtual)
- Part of the leadership in a SIG (i.e. student interest group) in the school

Yes, the lecturers have the flexibility to classify the student activities under
event or leadership based on their judgement and activities outcome.
No, there is no fixed criteria for the event category. However, the Evaluation panel would like the
students to fill in the impact, information of the event that they have participated in and record
them in their submission form.
Yes within a specific time frame. The Evaluation Panel would assess on a case-by-case basis for cybersecurity-related
voluntary activities. IHLs' appeals should be based on lecturers' assessment that the students could be considered for
certain criteria of the category though their activities are not in accordance to what is stipulated under SVRP.
No, we will not have any quota for all award categories. The same applies to the track for secondary school
and JC students.
No, it will not be counted for this period. However, we will review in the
following year if there are many students who are unable to obtain the required hours for the events
category.
No, the highest award that the student can obtain will be Gold. The need to create higher tier awards beyond Gold such as consecutive winners, would be reviewed at a later stage.
It should be something that the students apply what they have learnt by
conducting or creating / developing a product or delivering a service or conducting a security
practice like penetration testing.
No, any events / service learning activities that is part of the school
curriculum will not be counted. It should be something that the students volunteered for beyond the
curriculum hours.
Many of the internship programme focus more on academic results. For the
internship that offered by our supporting partners, the focus will be on activities beyond academic
qualification and recognising volunteer activities. It is not mandatory for students to take part in
the internship programme if they do not wish to do so, even though they obtained the Gold award.
15. As a potential gold awardee, is it compulsory to attend the interview to receive the gold award?
This interview is a pre-requisite, as it is important for our panel to validate the student’s participation and ensure that they fulfil all the categories.
Nomination forms including details of the voluntary activities and hours involved would be verified by AiSP. Secretariat may reach out to students, teachers and organisations involved in the activities, to verify the activities and outcomes. If a secondary school student enters an IHL within the same year i.e. 2020, AiSP would recognise the volunteer as secondary school student if the volunteer has not graduated from the secondary school as of 1 Jan 2020 (i.e. attainment of GCE ‘O’ Level certificate).
The same applies for JC student who has entered an IHL within the same year (i.e. attainment of GCE ‘A’ Level certificate).
